Berkswell Charities Support Village Community Litter Pick

Berkswell Charities recently demonstrated their continued commitment to the wellbeing of Berkswell village by supporting a successful community litter-picking event, bringing residents together with a shared purpose: caring for the local environment.

The event saw a record number of over 50 volunteers of all ages take to the village streets, footpaths, and green spaces, equipped with litter pickers and bags, to help keep Berkswell clean and welcoming.

Community events such as this litter pick offer benefits that go far beyond the immediate task at hand. They provide opportunities for neighbours to meet, strengthen social connections, and build a sense of shared pride in the place they live. Working together outdoors encourages collaboration, boosts wellbeing, and helps foster a stronger, more resilient community spirit.

Addressing litter is also an important environmental issue. Discarded waste not only detracts from the beauty of the village but can harm wildlife, pollute waterways, and contribute to longer-term environmental damage. Plastics and other materials can take decades to break down, posing risks to animals and ecosystems along the way. Regular litter-picking helps reduce these impacts while raising awareness about responsible waste disposal.

After completing the litter pick, volunteers were able to relax and socialise over well-earned refreshments at The Nook sponsored by Berkswell Charities and burgers supplied by Rapid Relief Team, providing a fitting and friendly end to the morning. This final gathering highlighted the social value of the event, giving participants the chance to reflect on their efforts and enjoy the sense of achievement that comes from working together for the good of the village.
