Grants for Educational Assistance

Criteria for Educational Grants

1. Who can apply?

Applications welcomed from 16-25 year olds, on low income wishing to study at a recognised college or university to further their education. These criteria must be met but the Trustees would encourage you to discuss the application with the clerk should clarification be required on any point.

2. What can be funded?

The "additional" costs associated with a course of study such as books, clothing, and/or equipment required for the course, travel, examination costs, computers/laptops/tablets, or printers. The Trustees may consider applications for costs associated with 'living' equipment from time to time.

Specialist equipment such as musical instruments or sports equipment for younger children may be funded.

Travel bursaries for young people to represent their Club, Society, Scout Group, or similar in the UK or abroad may be funded but applicants should note point 4 below with respect to the maximum grant available.

Equipment for apprenticeship schemes.

3. What items cannot be funded?

We will not fund course fees, items provided by the college/university for the course, childcare, or study outside the UK.

4. How much can I apply for?

The average grant is likely to be in the region of £200 to a maximum of £500. If the applicant requires more than the maximum amount available from the Charities, you will be asked to explain how the balance will be raised. Applicants may apply more than once for a grant but bear in mind that the maximum total grant payable is £I000 for any one person.

5. How to apply?
